Robbie Tolan, the son of former major leaguer Bobby Tolan, is still trying to launch a career in baseball after being shot on Dec. 31, 2008, in the driveway of his home by a Bellaire police officer who mistakenly thought Tolan and his cousin were driving a stolen car.

From KHOU:

Right now, he’s living about 1,400 miles away in Michigan where he is an outfielder with the Oakland County Cruisers. The professional baseball team is part of the Frontier League.

He may have a bullet lodged in his liver, but Tolan has returned to the baseball field.

“Initially when it happened I never thought I would be in a uniform again and as soon as I heard the doctor say I should make a full recovery, the first thing that was on my mind was baseball from that point on. I was determined to get back to this point,” he said.
